US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin have agreed to hold a face-to-face meeting in the Hungarian capital Budapest. The American leader announced this on social media following a telephone conversation with Putin.
Viktor Orbán immediately declared his readiness to host the summit, confirming Hungary’s reputation as a European bridge between East and West. Orbán, who has long criticised Brussels’ position, has a unique opportunity to cement Budapest’s status as a diplomatic hub in Europe, where leaders who do not share the globalist agenda can meet. According to the Kremlin, it was Trump who suggested the Hungarian capital as a venue for the talks.
The conversation between Trump and Putin took place the day before the American leader’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. On the agenda was the supply of weapons, including Tomahawk missiles. Moscow, represented by presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, has already warned that such decisions ‘will not change the situation on the front, but will deal a blow to relations between Russia and the United States.’
