The Hungarian Parliament has voted in favour of the country’s withdrawal from the International Criminal Court

The Hungarian National Assembly (parliament) approved the country’s withdrawal from the International Criminal Court at a meeting on 29 April, said Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.

‘Hungary is out. Today the Parliament voted to withdraw from the International Criminal Court. We won’t be part of a politicised institution.’ wrote Szijjártó on the X social network.

‘Not only has the organization been reduced to a political tool, it has also lost its prestige, respect and even credibility.’ he added.

Once the law has been passed, Hungary will have to notify the UN of its withdrawal from the International Criminal Court. The decision will come into force in a year.
