The combined wealth of Russia’s largest businessmen has increased by nearly $22 billion since the start of 2026, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. The ranking is compiled on the basis of current stock market valuations and companies’ financial performance.
As of June 1, twenty Russian entrepreneurs appear in the Bloomberg ranking. The wealthiest among them is Alexei Mordashov, owner of Severstal and gold mining company Nordgold, whose fortune is estimated at $29.9 billion — up $3.66 billion since January. He holds 81st place in the overall ranking.
The strongest gains among Russian participants were recorded by Andrei Melnichenko, who controls EuroChem and SUEK. His assets grew by $5.63 billion to reach a total of $24.6 billion. He ranks 104th globally.
In absolute terms, the biggest winner remains Elon Musk. The fortune of the SpaceX founder and Tesla CEO has surged by $116 billion since the beginning of 2026, bringing his total to $735 billion. He continues to top the global ranking by a wide margin.
Mordashov’s wealth has also sparked a political debate inside Russia. Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko called on the Severstal co-owner to repatriate funds from offshore accounts back to Russia. The company rejected the suggestion, clarifying that Mordashov’s assets are already based in Russia, that he holds no offshore structures, and that the businessman is currently subject to Western sanctions.
