Macron promised to increase pressure on Russia

LFrench President Emmanuel Macron has said that Ukraine’s Western allies plan to step up the pressure on Russia in the coming days to encourage Moscow to commit to a ceasefire.

In an interview for Paris Match, Macron said he hoped the parties had never been so close to a ceasefire, but underlined the need to ‘remain cautious’ because ‘part of the equation depends on Moscow’. ‘Over the next eight to ten days, we are going to increase the pressure on the Kremlin.’

‘It was not fair for the pressure to be put only on Ukraine,’ he said.

The French President did not specify exactly what this ‘increased pressure’ on Moscow would consist of.
