Europe Is Preparing a Plan to Send Troops to Ukraine After War Ends

European countries have begun discussing the possibility of deploying military contingents to Ukraine after the cessation of full-scale hostilities. This was reported on 19 August by Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the negotiations.

According to the publication, about ten European countries are ready to send their troops to Ukraine as part of a future peace agreement. Particularly, this is concerning the United Kingdom and France, who plan to deploy hundreds of troops beyond the front line. Their primary task will be to instruct Ukrainian soldiers and participate in the consolidation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Negotiations on this topic have already taken place at the level of European officials. In the coming days, a meeting between representatives of the EU military structures and a US delegation is expected to discuss security mechanisms and coordination of joint actions.

According to sources, a multinational group is being formed to train Ukrainian soldiers and support personnel. The British and French contingents will be part of broader efforts to stabilise the situation in the country.

According to Bloomberg, the United States plans to focus on support functions: intelligence sharing, border surveillance, arms supplies and the possible provision of air defence systems. Thus, American participation will play a key role in ensuring the security of the future mission.
