Venezuela: the Oil Crisis and Prospects for Recovery

Trump explained what he thinks about taking control of Venezuela, Greenland, and Vladimir Putin. Brief summary

The U.S. armed forces have arrested dictator and criminal Nicolás Maduro for the actions he committed against the United States. A second phase of the operation in Venezuela had been planned, but it now appears it will no longer be necessary. We have established strong relations with those who currently represent Venezuela. They transferred 30 million barrels of oil to us, which are already on their way to the United States. In the near future, we will decide which major oil companies will be allowed to operate in the country. American businesses are ready to invest about $100 billion of their own funds to rebuild Venezuela’s infrastructure. In return, the companies will receive state guarantees to protect their investments and the opportunity to recover their capital later with substantial profits.

The United States will begin refining and selling up to 50 million barrels of Venezuelan crude oil as soon as possible. This process will have no time limit. We are open to cooperation. China and Russia will be able to buy as much oil from us as they wish. Venezuela is now our partner. We do not want to see Chinese or Russian influence there, just as we do not want their presence in Greenland. Something will have to be done about Greenland, whether they like it or not. If we do not act, Russia or China could take control of it, and we do not want such neighbors.

I do not believe the United States will need to arrest Vladimir Putin. We have always had good relations, but I am very disappointed now. I have settled eight armed conflicts and thought it would not be so difficult to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine. I cannot recall anyone in history who deserves the Nobel Prize more than I do.

This is a brief summary of Donald Trump’s statements at a meeting in the White House with executives from American oil companies. According to U.S. media, business leaders reacted skeptically to the idea of reviving Venezuela’s oil industry, calling the country, in its current state, “unattractive for investment.”
